In our next meetup, the founders of Foodblockchain.xyz – Angel Versetti and Stefan Meyer – will present their vision of the next generation food supply chain.

They describe foodblockchain.xyz as follows:
FoodBlockchain.XYZ is the world’s first blockchain ecosystem created for the food vertical. Our solution includes sensor systems to assure quality, safety and origins of food; a platform to create, edit and enter into commercial agreements with quality prerequisites, a decentralised exchange platform for agricultural commodities and food with guaranteed quality insights, a consumer-oriented app to verify the story of individual products, and a peer-to-peer marketplace where farmers can directly sell their products to the buyers and cut out the middleman. Our ecosystem and protocol is powered by FoodCoin, an ERC20 token.

In their speech, they will focus on the following topics:

• Why the Food Industry badly needs to be disrupted by the blockchain

• How a dedicated ecosystem powered by Ethereum can bring value to all stakeholders (consumers, farmers, manufacturers, retailers/restaurants)

• what are their main challenges in building Food Supply Chain 2.0

Angel Versetti is the Co-Founder and CEO of FoodBlockchain.XYZ; He was the youngest Project Leader at the 10YFP programme of the United Nations as part of Sustainable Development Goals, where he built from scratch a multi-million-dollar international project to invest into emerging technologies for sustainability. He worked at Department of Industry and Technologies; Trade and Investment Division; and Weapons of Mass Destruction Programme at the United Nations and also worked at World Resources Forum, Bloomberg, Google and World Business Dialogue. He holds a Masters degree in Public Management from Sciences Po Paris.

Dr Stefan Meyer is the Co-Founder and CTO of FoodBlockchain.XYZ; Stefan created and became the Founding Managing Director of the Integrative Food and Nutrition Center at EPFL and built the largest industrial consortium at EPFL. He previously created and successfully exited 2 startups in the IoT domain focused on sensors (acquired by Maersk Group and Perrot GmbH) and spent several years as R&D Manager in Food Quality and Safety and Nestle. Stefan is a Scientific Advisor at Vitargent Biotechnology and Member of the Swiss Federal Office of Agriculture. He holds a PhD in Food Science from the University of Leeds.
