Powering an estimated 5-10% of all Bitcoin transactions, Electrum is one of the leaders of the Bitcoin wallet space. The open-source walled was started in 2011 and played a key role in the development of the light-weight SPV wallets.
Thomas Voegtlin is a computer scientist, Bitcoin enthusiast, and developer of the popular Bitcoin wallet Electrum. He holds a PhD in artificial neural networks and machine learning. He started to investigate Bitcoin in 2011, as part of his interest in decentralized systems. In 2014 he left his researcher position at INRIA, in order to focus on Bitcoin and Electrum.

- wallet design choices
- security model of Electrum
- the trade-off between usability and security
- future developments of Electrum (segwit, payment channels)
- wallet development in today’s Bitcoin ecosystem
