Crypto Finance, part of Deutsche Börse Group, has become one of the first providers of digital assets to secure the European MiCAR license (Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation). The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) granted the license to Crypto Finance (Deutschland) GmbH, the company’s German subsidiary.

After the approval of the initial German licenses by BaFin in January 2024, the new MiCAR license enables Crypto Finance to offer five key services across Europe:

  1. Custody of crypto assets
  2. Exchange of crypto assets for fiat currencies
  3. Exchange of crypto assets for other crypto assets
  4. Transfer services for crypto assets
  5. Execution of orders on behalf of clients

With the MiCAR license, Crypto Finance can expand its offering as one of the first service providers across Europe and provide institutional clients with comprehensive crypto services at the highest regulatory standards. “The MiCAR license creates even greater confidence in our services. Our future clients in Europe will benefit from a broader range of regulated crypto solutions, tailored to meet their institutional needs,” explains Eric Viohl, Managing Director of Crypto Finance (Deutschland) GmbH.

MiCAR establishes a unified regulatory framework for crypto services in Europe, aiming to promote transparency, security, and innovation in this dynamic market. Crypto Finance welcomes this development as a crucial step towards implementing reliable and regulated standards in the field of digital assets.

Thanks to its close collaboration with Deutsche Börse Group, Crypto Finance remains a trusted partner for professional custody, trading, and other related crypto services. The new license underscores the company’s ability to position itself as a strong player in a rapidly evolving market environment, providing institutional clients in Europe with a robust infrastructure for digital assets.
