Liberland ist das erste Land, welches Bitcoin als offizielle Währung einführte: Die Freie Republik Liberland ist ein international (noch) nicht anerkannter Staat, der auf einem unbewohnten Stück Land an der Donau liegt. Das Gebiet wird zwar von Kroatien verwaltet, aber als serbisches Staatsgebiet ausgewiesen. Serbien erklärte, das Gebiet gehöre nicht zu Serbien.

Seit numher fast einem Jahrzehnt hat sich einiges getan. Die Einwohneranzahl von Liberland wächst stetig, Liberland gibt Pässe heraus und Liberland eröffnet aktuell eine Botschaft oder eben Niederlassung in Mexico City!

The ‚country‘ of Liberland was founded in 2015 by a Czech libertarian named Vít Jedlička, and it was built on one simple principle: FREEDOM. More than 900 citizens already have their Liberland passports (yes, they are real!!), and this legal document allows them to enter several U.N. countries such as Haiti, Malawi and Colombia. Word on the street is spreading, and now more than 700,000 people are on the list to get their e-residency cards.
