Der Drehbuchautor Burns verpflichtete bereits die Oscar-Preisträgerin Kate Winslet, mit der er schon beim Politdrama „The Report“ erfolgreich zugsammengearbeitet hat, für eine der Hauptrollen in dem neuen Film, der auf einem unveröffentlichten Buch von Douglas Thompson und Jen McAdam basiert. Jen McAdam, der selbst Oper des OneCoin-Betrugs wurde und mehr als 300.000 US-Dollar in den Sand setzte, soll den Film anscheinend produzieren.

Scott wurde verurteilt, da er vorsätzlich Scheinfirmen und Offshore-Konten zur Geldwäsche missbraucht haben soll.
